Study on control factors and adjustment and potential exploitation of remaining oil in high water cut stage: A case from the lower sub-member of the 2nd Member of Dongying Formation in J oilfield of Liaodong Bay

Abstract

With J oilfield in Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea gradually entering the high-extra high water cut stage, the distribution of remaining oil becomes increasingly complex, and it is increasingly difficult to adjust and exploit potential. In order to further clarify the control factors and distribution characteristics of remaining oil, taking the lower sub-member of the 2nd Member of Dongying Formation on the east side of the main area of J oilfield as an example, based on the division and correlation of micro-layers, the vertical and plane contacts relationships of the monogenetic sand body were dissected in detail according to the configuration theory of delta facies reservoir, and the control effect of configuration units on oil/water movement was analyzed. The results show that the main factors controlling the distribution of remaining oil are the interference of single sand body facies belts between the layers, the barrier/interbed and rhythm of single sand bodies within the layers and planar single sand body contact relationship. Due to the existence of seepage barrier inside each micro-layer and between single sand bodies, it is easy to form remaining oil enrichment at the edges of sand bodies. Based on this, combined with production performance analysis and numerical simulation of remaining oil distribution research results,the schemes for two adjustment wells were designed. The total daily oil production is 140 tons in the initial stage after drilling, and the cumulative oil production has exceeded 5.0×104 t up to now, achieving good development results, and providing a useful reference for exploiting the potential of remaining oil in old oil fields in the later stage of high water cut development.
