Started in 1988,Mud Logging Engineeringis a national scientific and technological journal approved by the General Administration of Press and Publication and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. Approved in 2004 (Approval Number 1371 ), the journal is publicly distributed at home and abroad. The CN Serial Numbering is CN12-1371/TE, and the International Standard Serial Number is ISSN1672-9803. It is the only technical application-oriented journal reporting on oil and gas mud logging in China. Currently, it is a quarterly Chinese journal and a first-class journal in Tianjin.

Mud Logging Engineeringhas witnessed the development process of mud logging technology over the past three decades. With the introduction of the first imported compound logging instrument from France and the establishment of the first domestic professional mud logging company, to the current great development of the mud logging industry,Mud Logging Engineeringhas also gone through a difficult development process from its establishment to a well-known national journal.

Mud Logging Engineeringis formerly known asMud Logging Technology Newsletter(published in 1988 - 1994) andMud Logging Technology(published in 1994 - 2004), which has obtained the official national serial number since 2004.

Mud Logging Engineeringis governed by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), jointly sponsored by CNPC Bohai Drilling Engineering Company Limited and PetroChina Dagang Oilfield Company. The editing and publishing unit is the Editorial Department of Mud Logging Engineering, which is not an independent legal entity, and is an internal institution of CNPC Bohai Drilling Engineering Company Limited.
